My journey started waaaay before digital cameras, digital editing, and digital media became the norm. I’m a Gen X, former latch- key art kid, born and raised in central Ohio in the most American small town you could imagine. After my escape to the big city (Columbus) to attend Ohio State, I broke out again, this time to Chicago where I had a short stint as a life and runway model, and roles in a few of Chicago’s independently run “black box” theatres. I was also the House Manager of a mid-sized cabaret, the manager of a cafe/performance space in the artists neighbourhood of Pilsen, and Robert De Niro’s waitress whilst he was shooting a film in my neighbourhood. I came of age during the post punk DIY indy art and filmmaking renaissance of the 1990s. Although those years were extraordinary and character-defining, I found that my creative career was treading water. My lack of connections in the highly competitive arts industry left me with few opportunities to hone my craft. So, I decided to take charge of my creative development by forming Gullible Girl Productions, a production company that houses my many and varied projects - both passion and professional. Not only have I penned and directed, I’ve edited and promoted every video or film project I’ve shot, be it 8 or 16mm film, videotape, or digital.
